ON THIS DAY IN AVIATION HISTORY - September 17th 1944
Operation Market Garden would be the largest airborne operation in history, delivering over 34,600 men of the US 101st, 82nd, 1st British Airborne Division and the Polish Brigade. An audacious plan to create a 64 mile salient into German territory with a bridgehead over the River Rhine at Arnhem. This would provide the Allies with a direct invasion route into northern Germany, and the opportunity to finish the war by Christmas.
COMING SOON A new print, 'It never snows in September', featuring a C47 in the skies of Holland during operation Market Garden
